Beer.

This evening, I was at a family get-together at my aunt's house. After most people had left, my uncle turned on the television. During commercials, this particular one hit a nerve:

From my short search on YouTube, this was the commercial that aired during the Superbowl, so I'm just a tad bit late.

What is the deal with this guy in the baseball get-up? He's about to leave and spots the Bud Light and just has to have one. Okay, great. Then he goes on to interrupt the book club that was going on by making suggestive remarks( "Ooh, thrusting!") and disregarding the fact he was being incredibly rude. I know this is a silly beer commercial but still. It just exploits all the negative stereotypes of men who like to drink beer.

I suppose Bud Light's intention was to say that their beer is so darn good (it's not) that this guy will give up baseball practice, which must be incredibly important because duh it's a sport! And guys just love sports! And beer! But beer and chicks reading books are more important than other priorities! Because he stayed behind his buddies were able to mingle as well, making it a win-win situation.

I feel like this is pretty insulting to men in general. Even if that first guy really liked the beer, he didn't have to act like a complete asswipe when the woman was trying to explain to him what they were discussing. From what I could tell, he did not possess the mental capabilities to be considerate because all he could think about was beer. What the hell is that? Couldn't he just take the beer and go?

Then the last guy didn't even know the woman was referencing literature! Alright, so it was kind of funny. But all the men just came off as incredibly stupid.

So stupid men like beer? Is this the image this commercial wants me to believe?

Well, you have to be dumb to even spend money on crap like Bud Light. It leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Much like their ads.
